On the Edge

An almost 82 yr old Writer's LAMENT
Announcing a forthcoming event: the release of my latest novel entitled 'On the Edge' (of a stroke).
I would love to tell you when, where and how much - but... I've had it edited at enormous (for me) expense. It is now in the process of being formatted ( something went adrift in my template and margins ended up all over the place). Supposedly, a cover is being designed to my rough specification - but I won't get the finished article until I have the funds to pay the designer.
After which I have to submit it through the Amazon/KDP 'production belt' By comparison that is almost the easiest and cheapest (free) part of the process.
And then I need to "launch" it to the market. Then I have to beg for Amazon reviews. Without a good many reviews (50+ ideally) my book will languish in the listed but non-sellers in the Amazon store. However, none of these processes (except the Amazon production) happen without paying fees to 'digital marketeers', if like me you have been overtaken by the speed of change in the digital age.
The road to success is long and often difficult to negotiate and more often than not the costs far exceed the returns. But, I continue to produce more books. WHY? Because I love writing and will always hope that others will enjoy the results too. So, please keep an eye open for the eventual release of the finished story 'On the Edge' and if you enjoy it, please take a moment to leave a review.
END of a writer's lament.
And when this one is put to bed I can make a start on the Last Adventure of Jimmy Crikey.
